This Deep Desire

This Deep Desire is an abstract mural designed by Danny Simmons and brought to life by me, Gabe Tiberino, alongside a dedicated team including Mike Mixon, Malachi Floyd, Nazeer Sabree, and the Mural Arts Guild program. This powerful piece is a visual exploration of a universal yearning—the deep desire to reconnect with a lost or hidden history that grounds us.

Drawing on the collective memory of the African diaspora, the mural emphasizes African Americans reconnecting with Africa as their ancestral motherland. It honors the legacy of those who were involuntarily separated from their people, histories, and homelands across the continent. Through a dynamic collage of fragmented imagery and bold colors, This Deep Desire captures the spirit of reclaiming what was taken from generations scattered throughout the diaspora.
